To Stairway to Heaven των Led Zeppelin κυκλοφόρησε το 1971 και πλέον θεωρείται ως ένα από τα καλύτερα rock τραγούδια όλων των εποχών.
Η σύνθεση του κομματιού Stairway to Heaven έγινε από τον κιθαρίστα των Led Zeppelin, Τζίμι Πέιτζ και τον τραγουδιστή του Ρόμπερτ Πλαντ και συμπεριλήφθηκε στο τέταρτο δίσκο τους.
Το τραγούδι μπορεί να χωριστεί σε τρία μέρη, στα οποία μεγαλώνει προοδευτικά τόσο το τέμπο όσο και η έντασή του. Στο πρώτο μέρος υπάρχει μία ακουστική εισαγωγή από κιθάρα και recorder, πριν λάβουν μέρος τα ηλεκτρικά όργανα. Στο τελευταίο μέρος ανεβαίνει το τέμπο του κομματιού και αποκτά έναν πιο Hard Rock ήχο, και κορυφώνεται με το σόλο του Πέιτζ και το κλείσιμο του τραγουδιού, από τον Πλαντ, να τραγουδά ακαπέλα την εξής φράση: «And she’s buying the stairway to heaven».
Το Stairway to Heaven ψηφίστηκε ως το τρίτο καλύτερο rock κομμάτι όλων των εποχών μέσω του τηλεοπτικού σταθμού VH1 και τοποθετήθηκε 31ο στη λίστα του περιοδικού Rolling Stone, Κατάλογος με τα 500 σημαντικότερα τραγούδια όλων των εποχών.
Επίσης, τη δεκαετία του 1970, στις ΗΠΑ, το Stairway to Heaven ήταν το τραγούδι που ζήτησαν περισσότερες φορές να ακουστεί στο ραδιόφωνο, αν και ποτέ δεν κυκλοφόρησε εκεί ως single. Σε ψηφοφορία που έγινε στην ελληνική έκδοση του περιοδικού Metal Hammer, το τραγούδι κατέλαβε την 7η θέση στα 200 καλύτερα rock τραγούδια όλων των εποχών.
